mb7uj switch-on (July 2002)

On July 13th 2002 MB7UJ became "on air" following the successful installation by Roger G7RUH, Mac G4IQI and Denis G4KWT.

MB7UJ is the first "Packet" repeater installed by TVRG and is designed specifically for APRS operation on 144.800Mhz Reports on the performance and coverage of UJ have all been very positive and it has now been working reliably for a number of months. They picked a good day for it judging by Roger's shorts..... The Diamond F-23 antenna is assembled and tested for VSWR before been erected. The bird netting introduced an unforeseen challenge as a recent edition to the site which previously was the home for the Bracknell UHF repeater GB3BN.

Denis (where did I leave my horse) G4KWT steadies the antenna whilst Roger begins to maneuver it in an upwards direction...

Roger and Denis pose for a picture (taken by Mac G4IQI... did you do anything else Mac?) and then get to work on installing the digipeater on the shelf in the lift motor room.

Well there it is.... the Key radio KM450 with the Kantronics KPC-3 Plus TNC and to the left hand side you can just see the telemetry box which reports the outside temperature and the transceiver heatsink temperature. The picture on the right show MB7UJ in its final location prior to the connection of the coax and temp sensors.
